We invite you to read this article about the characteristics and description of the Yamal tomato variety. What are the variety's specific features, and what reviews has the Yamal tomato received from gardeners?

Characteristics and description of the variety

The Yamal tomato is an early-ripening variety, with 75 to 80 days between planting the seeds and the first tomato ripening. The characteristics and description of the Yamal tomato variety, based on reviews, have attracted many. This can also be attributed to the compact and low-growing nature of this plant, eliminating the need for additional gardening work such as shoring. The average height of a Yamal tomato plant is 25 to 35 centimeters. Due to this compact size, many prefer to grow Yamal tomatoes on a windowsill, which is especially convenient for those who simply don't have a garden plot or a plot of land for growing vegetables.

Other distinctive characteristics of the Yamal tomato, as described in the variety description (photo), include the decorative nature of its fruits. They are round and slightly flattened, as if they came straight from a photograph painstakingly crafted by food stylists. A ripe tomato has a rich red color and a slightly glossy sheen, while the tomatoes are small, weighing between 90 and 100 grams.

In addition, the Yamal tomato bears fruit for a long time, has a rich taste, and grows well even in places where there is insufficient lighting.

Tomatoes of this variety are versatile in their use: they can be eaten fresh, used in salads, preserved whole, and included in lecho.

It's no wonder the reviews of the Yamal tomato are overwhelmingly positive. After all, among the abundance of tomato varieties and hybrids, it's hard to find a more low-maintenance variety that's also delicious, productive, and versatile.

A few words about growing

To reduce the risk of crop loss, most gardeners prefer to grow the Yamal tomato using seedlings.

Tomato seeds are planted in special plastic containers, which must first be disinfected.

The most successful soil is a mixture of river sand and humus in equal parts. Before sowing the seeds, warm them up to speed up germination. Place the seeds on a radiator and leave them there for three days.

After warming, soak the Yamal tomato seeds in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Then, rinse them under running water and dry them to remove excess moisture (simply wiping them with a cloth is sufficient).

Before planting the seeds in the soil to a depth of 2-3 centimeters, moisten the soil slightly. Cover the seedlings with plastic wrap and place them in a warm, bright place.

When the first shoots appear, the covering material can be removed, and the plant itself can be sprayed with a fine stream so as not to damage the shoots.

When 2-3 leaves have formed, the seedlings are transplanted into individual containers. When transplanting, it is recommended to fertilize the soil with a peat-humic mixture.
