Tomato "Königsberg": photos, reviews, yield

Tomatoes

You should definitely try growing the "Königsberg" tomato in your garden, as it's one of the best varieties brought to us by Siberian breeders and incorporates only the best qualities of hybrids. Reviews and photos of the "Königsberg" tomato, as well as its yield, attract the attention of many gardeners, so it's worth learning a little more about this tomato.

Characteristics of the Königsberg variety

The "Konigsberg" tomato is an indeterminate variety, meaning the plant's bush has no end point. Bushes can reach up to two meters in height, meaning the variety requires support. Typically, the bush forms two strong stems and has multiple clusters. The plant's rhizome is robust and extends deep into the soil. The leaves are quite large, dark green, and lightly pubescent.

Each cluster holds up to six ripe fruits. This variety is considered mid-season, with the time from seeding to harvesting the first crop being 11 to 115 days. Königsberg tomatoes are grown both in open ground and in greenhouses.

Regarding the yield of the "Königsberg" tomato (photo), reviews indicate that one can harvest three buckets of ripe fruit from a single bush. The manufacturer, however, states that one can harvest between 5 and 20 kilograms of tomatoes from one square meter, depending on the gardener's diligence.

The main advantages of the tomato variety "Konigsberg" include the following:

  • Disease resistance;
  • High yield;
  • Good taste;
  • Resistance to low and high temperatures;
  • Easy to care for.

Description of fruits

Unlike other tomato varieties, the Königsberg tomato has an elongated, oblong shape, reminiscent of a heart with an elongated tip. The fruit turns a deep red when fully ripe. The average weight of a single tomato is 300 grams, but occasionally, fruits weighing up to 800 grams can be obtained. The skin is smooth, not ribbed, dense, and does not crack.

Tomatoes are suitable for long-distance transportation, which is due to their dense skin, which protects the tomato and allows it to be stored for a long time.

Königsberg tomatoes can be eaten fresh or preserved for winter. Due to their large size, whole-fruit pickling is not recommended.

Reviews from gardeners

According to reviews, the "Königsberg" tomato (photo) is loved by many not only because of its productivity.

Alla: "I really like the 'Königsberg' tomato, primarily for its incredible flavor. It's exactly how tomatoes should be! Even though the manufacturer claims it's highly disease-resistant, I still treat the seeds with a weak solution of potassium permanganate before planting, just to be sure. This variety produces a good and consistent harvest, even when the weather outside changes like the wind. I highly recommend it!"

Svetlana: "A good variety, I haven't noticed any flaws. The yield is average, I can't believe you can harvest up to 20 kilos; I've only ever harvested 11. It's easy to care for, disease-free, grows well, and the fruits are beautiful, richly colored, and delicious. There's nothing to complain about."

Alina: "The 'Königsberg' tomato captivated me with its flavor! For tomatoes like these, I'm even willing to forgive the fact that their yield isn't as high as people say. Perhaps, of course, I'm doing something wrong and my yield is average. But the taste…it's one of the most delicious tomatoes I've ever grown."

Yuri: "I grew the 'Königsberg' tomato in a greenhouse, training it into two stems. The result was that the fruits grew larger at the bottom of the bush, and smaller, but more elongated ones at the top. The variety is suitable for both canning and fresh eating. It produces delicious tomato juice and tomato paste. Due to its average yield, we mostly use all the fruits for juice and paste, and we either preserve the leftovers for the winter or add them to salads. I wouldn't consider it one of the best varieties, but it's still worth considering."
