How to cook stewed potatoes with meat
Peel the potatoes and wash them under cold running water. Large potatoes peel much faster than small ones, so we prefer using them for this dish.
Cut the potatoes into medium-sized pieces. Finely chopped potatoes will overcook quickly, and you'll end up with mashed potatoes and meat rather than stewed potatoes.
Peel and rinse the onion, then cut into medium-sized feathers, it is important not to cut it into small pieces.
Rinse the meat and pat dry with paper towels. You can use any meat for this recipe, but it all depends on how quickly you want to cook the dish. We used chicken, which means it will cook in 20-30 minutes. Pork typically takes 40-45 minutes, and beef takes even longer – 50-60 minutes.
Rub the meat with salt and pepper.
Fry the onions and meat in a mixture of vegetable and butter until golden brown. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes.
Now add the potatoes, pour in the water and simmer over medium heat for another 20 minutes.
Mix the potatoes with the meat, adjust the salt, simmer for another 5 minutes and it’s ready.
Stewed potatoes with meat is a great excuse to gather the whole family around the table. Bon appétit, everyone!
