The Dashunya grape variety has technical characteristics that will satisfy both experienced and novice winegrowers. In hybridization, Dashunya Three well-known varieties participated: Rizamat, Kishmish Radiant, Kesha-1. The work was carried out by Ukrainian breeder N.P. Vishnevitsky.
Description
Vigorous bushes begin bearing fruit 2-3 years after planting, covered with large, dark green leaves. The clusters ripen early. This variety is considered an early-ripening grape. Harvesting begins at 115-120 days.
In mild, warm climates, harvesting begins after August 20th. Cluster sizes can reach up to 2 kg, with a total weight of 500-1500 g. They are medium-dense and conical in shape. The berries are a beautiful deep pink with a reddish tint.
The fruit is round, measuring 29 x 30 mm and 30 x 36 mm, weighing 13-15 g. The berries have crisp flesh, a high juice content, and a nutmeg flavor. The bunches transport well. The fruit is not prone to cracking, is not affected by gray mold, and has a long shelf life.
The bushes demonstrate impressive frost resistance (-24°C). Shoot maturity is high. Medium pruning (8 buds) is recommended; the optimal load for a mature bush is 30 to 32 buds. Grape Dashunya shows high resistance to mildew and oidium, with a rating of 2.5-3 points.
Landing
The longevity of the bush, the yield, the color, and the flavor of the berries depend on the growing location, soil structure, and agricultural practices. The planting method determines the soil type:
- trench (pit) – sandy soil, sandy loam;
- clayey, loamy soil - raised ridge.
Dashunya grape seedlings should be planted on the south side of the building. This will provide sun exposure for most of the day, and the wall will provide protection from northerly winds. Plant the seedlings in a 1.5 x 2 m pattern. Planting them too close together will result in overgrown shoots and reduced wood production.
A building wall, arch, gazebo, or trellis can be used as support. In the spring, dormant seedlings are planted after the soil has warmed (10-12°C), and vegetative ones are planted after the onset of stable warmth. Since they are transplanted with a root ball, they are not damaged by transplantation. In the fall, they are planted in the south.
Care
For the first two years, seedlings need regular watering, while mature vines only need three times per season. Excess moisture causes flowers to fall off, so about two weeks before flowering begins grape Stop watering. Reduce watering when the berries begin to color. Water should reach the spaces between the rows.
The Dashunya variety recommends gentle pruning. No pruning is performed during the first year. Mature bushes are pruned in the fall after the foliage has fallen, following the onset of cold nights. Young bushes are shaped in the spring. In summer, side shoots are not broken off, but rather shortened by two leaves.
Winegrowers' reviews of the variety
Ludmila, Germany
A three-year-old own-rooted bush. I left one or two inflorescences on each fruiting shoot. The clusters ripened in early September, and the last ones were harvested on September 20th. They hung well, retained their sugar content, preserved their flavor, and showed no signs of rot.
Andrey, Nevinnomyssk
Pollination is poor in damp weather; care and support are needed. Rain can cause pea-shaped fruit. Muscat flavor is present, but less pronounced in damp summers. It produces fruit well on side shoots, and pollination is easy on them.
Sergey, Ulyanovsk
The bush is planted next to a pear tree (almost underneath it). This increases the ripening time. There's no Muscat flavor. There are no complaints about the ripening of the vines. The berries are very sweet, crisp, resistant to wasp damage, raspberry-colored, and do not crack.
