Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, and sea mushroom—the rice mushroom is known by many names these days. This is primarily due to the places where it was grown. Most sources indicate that it was first discovered in Tibet. Regardless, it's difficult to overestimate the importance of this crop.
Features of the Indian mushroom
A fungus is a type of bacteria and their metabolic products (zoogloea). Other well-known zoogloea include milk mushrooms (kefir mushrooms) and kombucha.
Appearance with photo
Zooglea literally translates as "sticky substance." If you look at the Indian mushroom, it really does resemble slime.

Structure
The Tibetan mushroom, also known as the Indian mushroom, is a gelatinous, slimy body shaped like granules, reminiscent of boiled rice. This species of zoogloea, like others, contains acetic acid bacteria. Tibetan rice is often called "alive"—an epithet derived from the fact that when observed through a microscope, the organism can be seen breathing.
The composition of the mushroom itself and its derivatives is considered unique. It includes yeast-like organisms, tannins and resinous substances, organic and inorganic acids, vitamins D and C, certain enzymes, polysaccharides, and folic acid.
Of course, such a rich composition makes this type of bacteria very attractive from the point of view of treatment and prevention of many diseases, cosmetology, and dietetics.
Conditions for growth
Several essential conditions are necessary for the culture to actively grow and reproduce. These include warmth, darkness, and dryness. Since zoogloea resembles the slimy film that forms on a fermented drink, the conditions for growth are clear: fermentation is necessary.
Indian rice is intolerant of cold temperatures; the optimal temperature for its active growth is considered to be above 17°C, and the higher the temperature, the better the bacteria reproduce. The most favorable temperature range is from 23°C to 27°C.
The beneficial properties of rice mushroom
The Indian mushroom is worth growing for its beneficial properties, which have a positive effect on the body in many ailments. A properly prepared decoction of Tibetan rice has a tonic and rejuvenating effect on the body, increasing energy and performance. It is used to lower blood pressure, normalize metabolism, and remove gallstones and kidney stones.
The mushroom's ability to actively promote weight loss is widely known. For example, the enzyme it contains, lipase, is capable of breaking down fats. Drinking sea rice kvass helps increase lipase levels in the body and dissolve fat deposits. This results in restored metabolism and weight loss.

According to various sources, a mushroom infusion can treat over 100 ailments, including: lipid metabolism disorders, enzyme deficiencies, stones and sand in the genitourinary and excretory systems, cancer, inflammatory processes of various origins, cosmetic defects, and many others.
Contraindications and restrictions
A mere list of the Tibetan mushroom's positive effects is, of course, insufficient. Despite its broad range of effects on the human body, this miracle bacterium also has its own contraindications. Before engaging in uncontrolled self-medication and active consumption, consult a doctor.
Those suffering from hypotension (regular consumption of the drink helps lower blood pressure, which is already low in those with hypotension), chronic respiratory diseases (such as asthma and tuberculosis), acute peptic ulcers, and gastritis with increased stomach acidity should approach it with caution and consult a doctor. Children under 3 years of age are also contraindicated.
Even if you are absolutely certain that you experience subjective feelings of relief and improvement in your condition when drinking the decoction, it wouldn't hurt to consult a doctor, especially if you have a history of the above-mentioned ailments.
Rules for growing and caring for mushrooms
Making your own infusion should begin with growing the plant. However, growing it from scratch at home isn't possible; the raw materials will have to be purchased from a herbalist or friends.
To grow, you'll need: a clean glass container, a warm, dark location, and clean water. To prepare the drink, you'll need:
- 0.5 liters of clean cold water;
- a tablespoon of mushroom;
- 2 tablespoons of sugar, preferably brown cane sugar, but regular white sugar will also work. Stir the sugar into the water first;
- a few small dried fruits or pieces of large ones to create a medium for fermentation.
Once all the ingredients are prepared, the rice is soaked in water and sugar, a few dried apricots, raisins, or any other dried fruit are added, and it is placed in a warm, dark place. It should sit in this condition for two days, or three days at a lower temperature.
At the end of the period, drain the liquid into a clean container, preferably glass. Drain carefully, using cheesecloth or a very fine non-metallic sieve to prevent any "rice" grains from contaminating the drink itself.
The dried fruit should be discarded. To prepare the next batch, take a tablespoon of the already grown culture, rinsed under running water, along with all the listed ingredients. And then, back on the shelf, let it grow.

If the crystals become smaller, this is a bad sign, indicating that the mushroom is not doing well and may die. This is most likely due to low temperatures—at 18-20 degrees Celsius, the culture will not grow.
Use of mushroom infusion for various pathologies
The desire to prolong youth, improve health, and get rid of ailments—all this can be achieved by drinking Indian rice broth. The most important and essential requirement is regular and consistent use.
Uses of the mushroom:
- The high amount of vitamin C in the composition helps strengthen the immune system, vascular walls, and prevents the development of atherosclerosis. Furthermore, vitamin C is essential for collagen production, which is the key to elasticity and youthfulness of the skin;

Benefits of Vitamin C - The bacteria contained in the mushroom help normalize intestinal microflora, improve digestion, resist pathogenic microorganisms, and increase resistance to infections in general;
- Vitamin D, which is a component of sea rice infusion, promotes the absorption of calcium, so it is highly recommended for patients with bone and joint diseases, and the active enzymes of this healing drink promote the breakdown of salts and prevent the destruction of bone material;

The action of vitamin D - If a person is at risk for cardiovascular disease, rice kvass can also help. It can help control blood pressure and prevent vascular spasms.
- According to some reports, oncological diseases are also an indication for the use of rice mushroom decoction. The drink neutralizes free radicals and thus prevents the development of cancer cells.
Despite all its positive properties, Indian rice, consumed in large and uncontrolled quantities, can also be harmful to the body. So, common sense and medical advice are always a good idea.

Unfortunately, there are currently no detailed, large-scale studies on the benefits of this mushroom infusion. However, there are reviews of experiments conducted on volunteers in dietetics, based on which doctors have confirmed the important role of rice kvass in weight loss:
Tatyana Lola, general practitioner: "As far as I know, no large-scale studies on this plant and its medicinal use have been conducted in our country or anywhere else. Therefore, we have no scientific confirmation based on laboratory findings. But if its composition is truly as rich as they claim, then I'm more inclined to agree with the benefits of using this remedy."
Irina Filippova, fungotherapist, candidate of biological sciences. She dedicated an entire book to the properties and capabilities of the miraculous mushroom, "Rice Mushroom or Indian Sea Rice." The publication details the healing properties of this unique organism. The specialist sees its primary effect as cleansing and rejuvenating the body.
Patients have different opinions regarding the fungus:
Yulia Sokolova: "I heard that rice mushroom is bad for the liver. I tried it for weight loss for a short time, and to be honest, I expected better results. Maybe if I had continued using it, the results would have been more pronounced."
Eremeeva Toma: "It helps with stomach issues. When I drank the infusion, I felt better. But maybe that's just self-hypnosis."
Marina: "Guys, I ordered this rice online. I stumbled upon it purely by chance. I was expecting the worst, but I was delighted! The taste is fantastic. The only thing is, it's a bit of a hassle, but it's worth a try!"
Rainbow_A: "I've had this mushroom for two years now. During that time, I haven't noticed any super-healing effects from the drink. Making kvass isn't difficult, but after a while it gets boring and becomes a burden. And I can't bring myself to throw it away..."
