Tomato "Katya": characteristics and description of the variety

Tomato "Katya": the characteristics and description of this variety—the result of the work of Russian breeders—are as follows. The tomato's inflorescences are simple, each containing up to 8 flat-round fruits. Tomato diseases such as late blight, blossom-end rot, and tomato mosaic are not a problem for "Katya," as this variety is highly resistant to these diseases. It can be grown in a wide range of climates: it is resistant to both drought and frequent rainfall. Both greenhouse and open ground cultivation are suitable.

 

Among early-ripening varieties, "Katya" is a leader. Even a novice gardener can reap a bountiful harvest by following these simple guidelines:

— seeds are planted in March in pre-prepared containers with nutritious soil;

— picking is carried out immediately after the development of the first cotyledons;

— before planting seedlings in the beds, it is worth keeping them outdoors for several days so that they get used to the environmental conditions in which they will grow;

— seedlings should be no less than 15 cm, but no more than 20 cm;

— plants are planted after the risk of frost has passed;

— seedlings are planted in pre-prepared deep holes at a distance of about 45 cm from each other;

— at least 2-3 tomatoes should be planted in one hole so that the formed bush is strong and stable;

— the soil in which tomatoes grow should be regularly fertilized with potassium fertilizers and loosened;

— the tomato "Katya" requires constant abundant watering, the soil should not dry out too much;

— if necessary, tomatoes are tied to a support and side shoots are removed;

— after the first ovary appears, fertilizer should be applied daily.

The "Katya" tomato is highly productive. With proper care, 1 square meter of soil can yield approximately 10-15 kg of harvest. The fruits reach 120 g in weight and are red in color. This variety ripens once, significantly simplifying harvesting and subsequent processing.
