This hybrid grape variety is gaining popularity among winegrowers across Russia. They are drawn to Zarya Nesvetaya for its berry characteristics, yield, and versatile use. The berries sell well in the market, attracting customers with their attractive appearance and beautiful clusters.
About selection
Hybrid varieties developed by amateur breeder Evgeny Georgievich Pavlovsky are successfully grown in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. The hybridization focused on early maturity and resistance to diseases, frost resistance, and productivity. Zarya Nesvetaya meets all these requirements.
The hybrid was obtained by crossing two parent forms:
- Cardinal;
- Mascot.
Both grape varieties Widely known among winegrowers, the Zarya Nesvetaya variety is heat-loving and is therefore more popular in southern regions. It is successfully grown along the entire Black Sea coast, in the Don region, and in the Caucasus. In temperate climates, the crop requires winter protection.
Description
This table-type hybrid is frost-resistant to -23°C. Zarya Nesvetaya is grown as a cover crop. It is a vigorous variety with an 80% shoot maturity rate. Each shoot produces 2-3 inflorescences.
The shoots are covered with light green, five-lobed, oval-shaped leaves. The hybrid's distinctive feature is its thin stalks. They have difficulty supporting the massive clusters; the largest can weigh up to 2 kg, while medium-sized specimens weigh from 0.6 to 1 kg. The clusters are medium-dense, with a beautiful conical or cylindrical shape.
The berries have a muscat flavor and a strawberry aftertaste. The fruit is smooth and round, pale pink in color when ripe, turning deep red with a burgundy tint when fully ripe.
The berries are large, weighing between 10 and 12 grams. The crisp, juicy flesh has a dense texture and a small number of seeds (1-2). The skins are thin but strong and edible. If the clusters hang on the bush for a long time, the berries accumulate sugars, maintaining their shape and beautiful color.
Productivity and direction of use
The harvest ripens early. About 100 days pass from flowering to harvest. The first bunches ripen in late to mid-July. Harvest timing depends directly on the climate zone. Rainy weather does not affect the quality of the harvest, and the berries are not prone to cracking.
A bountiful harvest is achieved thanks to the high percentage of fruit-bearing shoots. The load is regulated, leaving no more than 6-8 buds on each shoot. The permissible load per bush is 42 buds. Clusters can hang on the bushes until they reach harvesting maturity, which is until mid-August.
The berries have a wide range of uses. grapes Zarya Nesvetaya produces delicious homemade wines of varying strengths. The fruits are used for preserves (compote, jam) and eaten fresh. The bunches retain their marketable appearance during transportation and are in demand at the market.
Diseases and pests
The disease resistance rating is 2.5 points. This is average for winegrowers. To maintain immunity, preventative measures are taken:
- Treat with fungicides three times per season (before flowering, after flowering, and when the berries become the size of a pea);
- In the spring, the soil is treated with a solution of ferrous sulfate, 300 g is diluted in a 10 liter bucket;
- Mulch is used to regulate humidity levels.
The Zarya Nesvetaya grape harvest is rarely attacked by wasps; it is more often attacked by birds and other pests. Grape growers must protect the vines from codling moths and felt mites. To protect the berries from birds, they stretch a rigid net over the vines.
From codling moths grape They are treated with insecticides. The final treatment is carried out a month before harvest. Acaricides are used to combat felt mites.
Care and planting
Care requirements are standard, as are planting requirements. For beginners, they're relatively easy to follow. Seedlings are planted in 80 x 80 cm holes and filled with fertile soil containing humus, sand, ash, and mineral fertilizer.
Starting from the third year, the bushes are fed. Organic matter (humus) and mineral fertilizers are added: potassium in the summer and phosphorus in the fall. To retain soil moisture, the area around the trunks is mulched with old, rotted sawdust.
Young grapevines (1-2 years old) are watered regularly, while bushes entering fruiting season are watered less frequently. Watering is stopped completely during flowering and berry ripening. Proper pruning promotes good ventilation. Medium pruning (6-8 buds) is recommended for this form.
Reviews
Irina, Krasnodar Krai
In our conditions, this variety ripens in early August. Zarya Nesvetaya is a hybrid ideal for commercial cultivation. The flesh is firm and crisp, with a Muscat flavor. The bunches are marketable (large and attractive), and are not damaged during transportation. The yields are decent, and the shoots mature quickly. I cultivate the plantation using standard techniques; so far, I haven't encountered any diseases or pea mold.

The bush is young; I planted it from a cutting last spring. The vine matured to a length of 2 meters last season, its thickness just over 0.5 mm. The seedling is of average development. This spring, I began forming a cordon and left three clusters. I liked the shape, and there were no pea-sized berries. The berries ripened between August 15th and 20th. Two clusters were 300 g each, one about 1000 g. The berries weighed from 10 to 12 g. The bush was disease-free, growth was average, and I was very pleased with the taste. The appearance of the berries was also impressive: purple with a purine hue, with notes of muscat in the flavor.

At harvest maturity, the berries are pale pink. If the clusters are left on, rather than cut immediately, they develop a more intense color. Zarya Nesvetaya produces a good yield, even under heavy loads. This is to refute rumors that this variety is not productive.
